Regional Quarterlies

Regional Quarterly Championship Tournament: 
The 2nd Saturday of the month following the end of the Quarter at 12:00 noon.  See the News|Calendar tab for exact dates and times.
  Qualifying for Regional Tavern Quarterlies:

Every Tavern is guaranteed to qualify a minimum of two players for the Regional Championship per Quarter.

The First and second finisher of their Local Tavern Quarterly have the first opportunity. 

Alternates:
If either, or both, are unable to attend or are already qualified at another Tavern, the Tournament Director will notify the next eligible qualifier in order of their finish at the Local Quarterly, until two Players are qualified.  These players are considered Alternates.  They do not qualify for Bonus chips but are also qualified for the Annual Grand Championship.  

NOTE:  Bonus chips are always earned by the winning player and do not transfer to an alternate player.  A player must WIN bonus chips.  TPL believes it is enough that the alternate gets to play, starting with the Basic chips only.  It is important that the TD declares an alternate as an alternate, NOT A FINISHER.  Failing to declare the player as an alternate can cause the true winner to lose earned bonus chips at the Annual Grand Championship and disqualify the Alternate from earning bonus chips from a win at the regional.

NOTE2:  An alternate may be assigned as qualifying for the Annual Grand Championship even if the 1st and 2nd winners play the Regional Quarterly.  These alternates DO NOT PLAY THE REGIONAL but are qualified for the Annual.  This happens when one or both of the winners have previously qualified for the Annual Grand Championship.   Each Tavern is GUARANTEED a minimum of 2 NEW qualifiers per quarter for the Annual Grand Championship.  Remember, these alternates do not earn Bonus starting chips for the Annual but do get to compete with the Basic starting chips.  They may also earn Nonus chips of their own at a later date.

Taverns on the premium TPL membership program may qualify one extra player to both the Regional Quarterly and the Annual Grand Championship.  This 3rd player is the quarterly points leader and receives the same bonus chips as the quarterly winner and  is qualified to play in both Regional Quarterly and Regional Annual events.   The quarterly points leader is treated exactly like the winner of the Local Tavern Championship without even having to play in it, except:
 No alternates are available for this qualifier.  The intent is for the point leader to get to play, not to just add a 3rd qualifier.

The point leader may elect to play in the Tavern Quarterly Championship to win the trophy and/or to knock out competitors who might qualify for the Regional.  If the Points Leader also finishes 1st or 2nd it can reduce the number of qualifiers from 3 to two if none of them have qualified previously.  This is a personal decision the Points Leader is free to make. 
How the starting chips for the Regional Quarterly Championships are determined:


Tavern Local Championship winners:
1st              = 15,000
2nd             = 10,000
Alternates =   5,000

Top Point Qualifiers for those taverns who are qualified to send a 3rd qualifer = 15,000
