What are the prizes?
There are nightly prizes, quarterly finals prizes and major tournament entry prizes. As the number of Taverns who participate increases the number of prizes awarded increases. (Click the Awards tab above for current prize information).
Who gets to compete in the Annual Grand Championship?
1. Each bar's Tavern Quarterly winner and second place finisher qualify.
2. If the winner or second finisher of any Tavern quarterly tournament is already qualified or is unable to attend the next place finisher may attend in his/her place and so forth until a qualifier is established for each quarter. Each Tavern should have a minimum of two qualifiers per Quarter for the Championship Tournament. The Tournament Director notifies Tavern Poker League which of the qualifying players will be attending.
3. All Tournament directors automatically qualify for the Annual Grand Championship and receive 5,000 bonus starting chips.
All Qualifying Players will be notified via email.
Who gets to compete in the Local Tavern Quarterly
1. The top 10 point qualifiers are automatically qualified.
2. A special Qualifying Tournament is held immediately prior to the Quarterly Tournament. The top 3 places qualify to play in the Quarterly Tournament which follows.
Can anyone play in the Qualifying Tournament?
Yes, even new players can play in the Qualifying Tournament.
What are the advantages of playing more tournaments?
1. There are bonus chips awarded for frequent play
2. The Quarterly Tournaments starting chips are based on a player's cumulative point count and attendence.
3. The best reason players participate is simply to have fun.
How do I earn points?
Players earn points by finishing in the top 20 in any nightly tournament. Points are awarded based on player's position at the time of elimination. (For details see the Rules tab.)
How are the rankings determined?
Since the points are already weighted for placement, the rankings are based on the simple total cumulative points. Since this whole process is designed to reward participation, loyalty has value.
What Rankings are tracked?

2. National Ranking
Can I play at more than one Tavern?
Yes you may play at as many taverns as often as you like. Your Tavern Rankings will be tracked separately. Since National Ranking is mostly for bragging rights your cumulative national points will be the total of all events played. If you qualify for the Annual Grand Championship you may play for whichever Tavern you have earned the most Bonus chips from. Bonus chips may not be combined.
What tournaments are held and where?
1. Locals: Each Bar has one or two tournaments a night on one or two different nights each week
2. Tavern Quarterlies: each tavern are held once a quarter at each tavern.
3. Annual: The Tavern Poker League Annual Grand Championship tournament will be played the 3rd Saturday in October. The league year end is September 30.

Look under the Tavern tab for the location nearest you. If your favorite tavern doesn't participate please encourage them to do so.
What if my Favorite Tavern doesn't have Tournaments?
Sponsor your Tavern to join the League!! TPL rewards players who sponsor a new tavern.
How old do I have to be to play?
The Tavern sets the age requirements for the local tournaments. You must be 21 to play in the play offs.
How do I register for a tournament?
You can register at any tavern on the Tavern List. Players should have an email address to receive correspondence.
Who do I contact if I have a question?
Each Tavern has a volunteer Tournament Director.
